Ryan Murrell

Ryan has been a brilliant creative partner and friend of Brave Day for the past 7 years. Having volunteered to help us with a filming shoot, while a student at Salford University, he has been our go-to creative filmmaker, when we need additional help, ever since. This is due to his never-ending friendliness and enthusiasm, as well as his great video skills. Jackie Goodman

Kirstie met Jackie when asked to film a dance and poetry workshop in rehearsal for BBC Contains Strong Language Festival 2017. Kirstie offered to create some video-art projections for the stage and this led to a subsequent 5 year fruitful, creative partnership.

Together we went on to create three pieces of poetry-inspired dance choreography, with video projection being an integral part of the performance.

We also helped to film a series of online art tutorials for Feral Art School.

We are currently working towards a new dance piece for 2023.

our work

Below is a small selection of digital media and video content that we’ve had the pleasure of creating for our clients and collaborative partners - for promotion, education, and case studies.

Brave Day worked collaboratively with RFK Human Rights UK for over a year 2021-2022 to help promote the work they do with schools and communities across the UK, for content on their website and for the Ripples of Hope Festival in @HOME Manchester.

Crossing The Line is written by Parvez Qadir and produced by Breaking Barriers CIC. The promo we produced shows the impact of this touring monologue across 55 primary schools in Greater Manchester to educate children about child criminal exploitation.

BBC Contains Strong Language Festival have been collaborative partners with Brave Day since its launch at Hull City of Culture in 2017. Now in its 7th year, we continue to support with video content for the festival and promotional highlights.

Stories We Tell by Breaking Barriers CIC, is a collaborative mixed media project sharing stories from the diverse community of Deeplish, Rochdale. A 20 minute binaural audio walking tour, with pop up video projection elements, by Brave Day, appearing in shops, windows and playgrounds.

This Is Us is a year long educational project commissioned by RFK Human Rights UK. Breaking Barriers and Brave Day collaborated on creative workshop sessions at Falinge Park High School, to document the experience and create a film for Ripples of Hope Festival @HOME.

The Roots Programme is a pioneering educational initiative bringing together young people and adults from diverse background to find common ground, through connection, compassion and curiosity. Brave Day filmed the sessions to create this promotional film.

“Kirstie is a rare mix of super creative and totally grounded - with an excellent and very useful network of creative collaborators.

On our project she’s been a brilliant listener, turning complex ideas and vague hunches into a succinct and compelling film. She’s incredibly patient and great at working with young people. And perhaps most importantly, she’s a lovely human.”

David Heinemann - Co-Director of The Roots Programme

“Thank YOU Kirstie. You have captured the spirit of Contains Strong Language so well in all your films. You have a sharp eye and a big heart. Thanks so much for all your work over the years . You are very much part of the festival.”
