About Brave Day

Brave Day helps organisations make sense of complex work through storytelling.

We are a senior-led creative practice working across research, health, education, public services, culture and communities, helping teams understand, capture and communicate learning, lived experience and impact.

Our work can take many forms, from research and impact storytelling to strategic consultancy, training, film, photography and audio. What connects it all is a thoughtful, collaborative approach to finding the story beneath the activity and shaping it in ways that are useful, human and meaningful.

We work with care for the people involved and the realities they are working within. Our approach is grounded in dignity, collaboration and context rather than fixed templates or extractive storytelling.

A storytelling bridge between sectors and perspectives

Brave Day often works at the intersections between research, public services, communities, culture and creative practice.

That means helping people with different perspectives understand one another, finding patterns across complex programmes, and creating storytelling approaches that balance organisational goals with lived experience.

We are particularly useful where the work is evolving, sensitive or difficult to reduce to one simple version of events.

    • Collaborative, not extractive

    • Context-specific, not off-the-shelf

    • Curious about complexity, not afraid of it

    • Focused on learning and long-term value

    • Designed with care for contributors and teams

The Brave Day Approach

Sensemaking through storytelling starts with understanding what is already there, while staying curious about what has yet to emerge.

We don’t arrive with a fixed story or format.

Together, Explore, Express, Connect and Grow form a flexible framework for moving from listening and understanding through to expression, connection and longer-term value.

It isn’t a rigid formula. Projects evolve, perspectives shift, and sometimes the most useful story isn’t the one we expected to find.

Not every project follows the same path. Some move through all four stages; others begin with research, experiences, or material they have already gathered. The framework gives us a shared way of thinking while leaving room for the story to evolve.
