Common Questions
Q: Can you help us plan our project or funding application?
Yes — I offer pre-project strategy and creative planning sessions to help you shape your ideas before we begin. These can also be used to support funding bids.
Q: What if I don’t know what story I want to tell yet?
That’s okay — many people come to me with just a spark. We’ll work together to gently shape it into something clear and meaningful.
Q: Do you travel for filming?
Yes, I’m based in Greater Manchester, but I work across the UK. Travel and accommodation costs are added where needed.
Q: Can we co-create something totally bespoke?
Absolutely — especially for larger storytelling projects. Just get in touch, and we can explore ideas.
Q: How much advance notice do you need for starting the video project?
It depends on my current workflow. I typically deliver short videos within two months, whereas longer films may need several months to complete, especially if involving multiple filming days. I’ll plan out timescales for every part of the process in the early stages of creative development.
Q: Do you offer payment terms?
Yes, I offer payment plans to help spread the cost. We can discuss this on a discovery call.
Q: Do you ever say no to a project
Yes, I sometimes have to say no if the project doesn’t align with my values and purpose, which is supporting changemakers and communities. I also may have to say if my availability is limited, but I will offer a postponed project starting date, ‘not just yet,’ or suggest another filmmaker who aligns closely with my ethos and style.
Q: Do you offer refunds or reductions if I’m unsatisfied with the final video?
I don’t offer refunds or reductions as long as I have delivered on the creative scope of work that has been carefully crafted and mutually agreed upon before filming or editing.
It is often the case that minor adjustments are requested to be made to the video upon first viewing—for example, changes to some of the interview content, some of the B-roll shots, or a piece of text. This is why I offer rounds of edit amendments within each package, which, in all of my experience, has helped my clients feel deeply satisfied with the end result.
However, if you wanted to change the video at any production stage beyond the agreed scope of work, this would be at additional cost.
This is why crafting a mutually agreed-upon creative direction and a scope of work document is a very important and necessary aspect of the pre-filming preparation. It clarifies for both of us the expectations of the video and helps build trust and confidence in the creative approach at each stage of the process.
